Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Course Description
The American Heart Association ACLS includes the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate treatment for cardiac arrest, proper management of situations likely to lead to cardiac arrest and stabilization following successful resuscitation. This course is designed for medical providers who direct or participate in the treatment of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.  The course includes; basic life support; advanced airway management skills; ECG monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition; intravenous access; therapies for treatment of patients with cardiac or pulmonary arrest; treatment of patients with suspected acute coronary syndromes; strategies for rapid assessment and treatment with fibrinolytics for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular emergencies. Participants are expected to posses a working knowledge of dysrhythmia recognition and cardiovascular pharmacology. For those not meeting this pre-requisite, the ACLS PREPARATORY CLASS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. See course description.
